Of TMDs and hardware

Bushing has written a lengthy article on the topic of TMD hacking.

Quote:
Most of you probably remember our infamous attempt to open a line of communication with Nintendo. We chose that bug because a previous attempt at communication had failed — we had thought that them fixing the strncmp bug in the System Menu’s IOS could cause the system menu to brick when it tried to load the banner for the Homebrew Channel. I emailed them about that in March, 2008 (right after IOS37 was released), and never got a response. Thinking maybe I’d failed to find the right email address, we tried again with another bug. We chose that bug because

1. We could position it as a piracy-related concern, and Nintendo has some channels for reporting piracy
2. We didn’t really care if they fixed the bug, since it wasn’t really that useful for legitimate homebrew
3. There was probably not much they could do to fix it, anyway, since it was more of a design flaw

cIOSCORP v3.3

Quote:
#002b error games should be working now!

dmm has made a little parody jingle about fixing Ghostbusters:
"If something's f***ed-up,
and it aint work-ing,
who ya gonna call?
d-m-m!"

v3.3
- changed DIP Module in IOSes 30, 50, and 60 to
use rev14, i.e. the true #002b error fix
(Ghostbusters, etc. SSBB is unaffected)
- added DVDX Fix workaround
- added NAND Permissions Patch to IOS36
- changed the ES_Identify patch (results didn't
change, though)
- removed IOS10 from the package as it is
unnecessary
- updated the README

tmbinc has ported the popular SNES emulator Snes9X to the 360 in one day. Time will tell if the 360 becomes a popular platform for homebrew.

AnyTitle Deleter MOD v6

Quote:
AnyTitle Deleter MOD is an unofficial mod by Red Squirrel of tona's AnyTitle Deleter, which allows you to completely delete (almost) any title on your Wii. This is useful as a space-freeing application, an informative application, and a paranoia tool.

It keeps all original tona's AnyTitle Deleter functions but it allows the program to show the real names of titles instead of just ID numbers, making it easier to select which ones you actually want to delete.

From MOD v3 it has some new features, as a installed titles backupper, IOS chooser, or the possibility to exit rebooting the Wii.

MOD v6:

-Added a function to select with which IOS to start the program. So if you get an error at program startup procedure just restart the program choosing another IOS (with flash access).

-The number of entries read from the database.txt has been increased from 1000 to 10000.

Simple FS Dumper 0.2 Released

nicksasa has released a new version of Simple FS Dumper, this application can dump your wii's FileSystem.
Quote:
As many people are (trying) dumping their fs, i decided to make an easy dumper based (wich is basicly a very stripped down version of FSToolbox)
this will dump your FileSystem in sd:/FS-Dump, you need to move all the folders in there to the root of your sd for wad mamanger 1.5. I hope you like it.
What's new?

* Dumping to the root of SD now
* Only dumping the nessecary files and channels/vc/wiiware for nand emu (means, no IOS files and other stuff, should save you ~100 MB )
* COunts how big your nand dump is (is printed when finished)
